3 - HOLY LAND - World Week for Peace in the Holy Land May 29th-June 4th 2010 – PAX CHRISTI
Jerusalem (Agenzia Fides) – A request for prayer - for a just peace, working to provide education and awareness in the territory; call political leaders on to a real commitment to peace in the Middle East...These are the objectives of the World Week for Peace in the Holy Land, to be held from May 29 - June 4, 2010. The initiative, launched by the World Council of Churches, with the support of Pax Christi International, will offer a week long series of suggestions and actions in different parts of the world for achieving "a just peace."

The initiative is being participated in by many Catholic organizations, congregations, and groups, as well as other Christian denominations in the Holy Land, convinced that "at a time when the political vacuum refuses to let pessimism triumph or hope be killed, believers in Christ can and should draw attention to awaken in all consciences the strong desire for peace in the Holy Land," notes a Catholic source of Fides in Jerusalem. "There is an urgent need for peace, ensuring legitimate rights and a future for all peoples in the Holy Land," said the source. "This is an opportunity to reaffirm our role as Christians, called to build bridges of reconciliation and peace."
